Her past positions include those in the classroom and out, but always focused on the achievement of students and dispelling myths believed of them. Her passion for education and Coleman Prep stems from her belief in the need for education equity as a means to close the "achievement gap".
She has a love for historically black colleges and universities and proudly boasts her alma mater. She is also a product of two HBCU grads, Norfolk State University (mother) & Tuskegee University (father). Asa is a mom of two, Terry & Talia, and credits her children for her drive and determination. She is a published author and entrepreneur.

You support school choice, are you a Republican?
No. I support school choice because families deserve to find the best educational option for their child, and finances shouldn’t be a hindrance.
Are you against public school?
No. Public schools just aren’t the best fit for every child.
Why did you decide to open a private school?
There was a need for an alternative option; one that was different from public school, different from traditional private school, and prepared students for the future.
What’s so special about HBCUs?
Everything!
The culture. The experience. The love. The community and networking. The education.
